Bowen started his working career in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1957. Working for a local company he learned the basics about paper and paper products, including packaging materials. Interrupted by his military service, he went back to work for the same company and soon he started in an inside sales and service position. In 1964 he and his wife Anja immigrated into the United States. He went to work for a local paper house in Denver, Colorado, starting in the sample department and then moving into Sales.
Over the next 19 years he was very successful in sales and later he was promoted to Sales Manager Packaging Products. As part of his sales efforts he worked directly with commercial printers and users of packaging materials. In 1977 both he and his wife Anja became Citizens of the United States. Three children were born and raised in Denver, Colorado.
In 1983, he decided to start a new venture by importing and selling reflective insulation products. You know it as foil laminated to bubble pack and other products were also suited for these purposes. After 10 years of being involved in developing markets for these products, the time was coming for a move to Fort Lupton, Colorado. Government regulations became an unfair burden by demanding certain testing without providing timely solutions. It was decided to dissolve that company and be ready for a new adventure: commercial printing and the sales of Promotional Products on a local level.
Discount Attention Getters! was started in 1992 and became very well accepted by at that time new customers. For over 15 years he has been involved in customer contact and knows what it takes for good old-fashioned customer service: Talk direct with the customer and show the options available and then follow-up on each and every order!
